Lotto is bidding farewell to its trekkingsmachine, which has faithfully served for the past fifty years. The machine, present since the very first Lotto-trekking on September 1, 1974, will now find a new home at the museum Beeld & Geluid in Hilversum.
Over the years, the trekkingsmachine has been an essential part of the Lotto draws, except for a brief period in the 1990s when a replacement was tried but met with criticism from viewers. This led to the original machine reclaiming its role, rendering the backup machine unused ever since.
Despite its longevity, Lotto has decided it's time for the trekkingsmachine to retire. Its final appearance will be on Saturday during the last draw before it embarks on a new chapter as a part of the media collection at museum Beeld & Geluid.
On December 7, the new Lotto-machine will make its debut, marking a transition to modernity while preserving the nostalgia of the past Studio Sport era and the iconic trekkingsmachine.
